Our organization provides children with the opportunity to learn how to ski. Give your child the gift of adventure with our Junior Nordic Program.
Junior Nordic's is our very own children's cross-country skiing program. First established in 2005, we've helped hundreds of children over the last 20 years to learn how to ski! Not only that, we've found in all our years instructing and educating our youth that the greatest gift we have been able to pass on is the love, wonder, and appreciation for the outdoors, and for community.
DJN is an organization which provides children with the opportunity to learn to cross country ski – and more importantly – to have fun on skis!!
Children in grades K-5 may participate. If they are younger than first grade or have special needs they must be accompanied by an adult.
Junior Nordic = $25 per child + Denali Nordic Ski Club membership Denali Nordic Ski Club membership = $15 for one child = $30 for family Please note that either the child or family attending Jr. Nordi must be a member of the Denali Nordic Ski Club. Being properly dressed for the weather is essential! This includes: a hat, gloves/mittens, outer shell, insulating layers, and warm polypro or wool socks. Children should bring their own water bottle, carried in their own day pack. **Please mark everything with names!
We will meet on Wednesdays from 3pm to approximately 4:30 pm at designated trail (most often Ski Hill or Talkeetna Lakes Park). Finish times on touring days are dependent on length on trails we ski. Parents will be notified in advance about changes in start/end times and locations of practices.
Parents will be in charge of getting their skier to and picking their skier up from the ski site. Carpooling is essential for parents who have to work, so if you are a parent that can drive at that time and can take extra skiers in your vehicle, that would be appreciated by all!
PLEASE let me know if your child is allergic to an ingredient! Midway through practice we will have hot drinks and snacks. If you can volunteer to bring snacks once this season (or send them with someone else) please sign up on this 2025 Denali Junior Nordic Snack Sign Up Sheet: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hF2-KnrGC01BIbwNXz0o-5P_DmDchOG84PgyJ-Ryb4c/edit?usp=sharing
